Turkey Day?
Thursday, November 27th, 2008I am offended when someone says “Happy Turkey Day!” to me.
Why am I offended? It assumes that eating turkey is the most important thing aboutthe fourth Thursday in November. It is supposed to be “Thanksgiving”! We are supposed to give thanks to our creator for his provisions.
Of course, if we have evolved to what we are and there is no God, then ignoring some who does not exist is appropriate. When programming, an “if” statement is followed by a “then” statement that executes when the “if” is true. But there also is an “else” statement that executes when the “if” is false.
Pretending our Creator does not exist is not healthy. It is not only unhealthy Spiritually, but also politically. Reread the Declaration of Independence. It says our rights come from our Creator and no one else can take them away from us. Now, that is something to be thankful for!
